Funny thing. Many web sites at the time seemed to have the same files
for downloading that BF had. The pages on those sites made it seems as
if they were housing them too. One of the arguments for pulling the plug
was that other sites would still be offering them. It was argued that BF
could move on and focus on other projects, projects that didn't produce
so much vexing email. After the files were taken off line it turned out
that these sites didn't actually house the files. They were just hiding
the fact that the files were actually being redirected from the BF server.
Oh, well. The BF server was just some cheap server farm setup. Anyone
with a little extra change could do the same thing. If anyone missed it,
or there was a need surely others would take over. No big deal right?
