I think adding that usability feature is a good idea. I wouldn't use 1px
gifs though. What we could do is add a second list of navigation items and
then hide the list from the screen in CSS enabled browsers.

Speaking of accessibility, we could also use the  accesskey attribute to
make it even more accessible. I'll put these things on my list of things to
do. Thanks for the suggestion.
