imp2vs makes a module from formatted text, so do this before you run the tool.
I think you use GBF, so have a look at http://www.ebible.org/bible/gbf.htm for 
the GBF standard. Use the tags to sourround the text which are headers or red 
letter words.

under Linux you can use recode to convert between charsets.
E.g. recode latin1..utf8 file.txt converts the content of file.txt from latin1 
to utf8.
