It is good that you are not advocating it. For those who may not know, this 
kind of process is something that we should probably always stay away from. 
Because, in the US the DMCA law and in many other countries similar laws 
now make it a crime to "circumvent an access control." It is even a 
violation of the law to do it to copy public domain works. The Library of 
Congress considered exemptions for public domain works, and a number of 
schemes that many may consider fair use, and rejected allowing those 
exemptions. The law may be struck down in the courts. But, for now it is a 
very big stick!
