At The Freely Project, there is now a sister site (www.thefreelyproject.us
- designated as TFP-USA or The Freely Project (USA)) for the U.S.
contingent of us that are trying to be active on the local level. I, for
one, am interested in setting up a formal non-profit organization based in
Charlotte that would raise funds to help with projects like Ichthux.
However, that's only one goal (and in line with our commitment to be
involved in libre software development projects).

We are also defining a turn-key solution stack that is geared toward
Ubuntu, but should be easy to support in any Debian-based distro. After
all, we'll just provide a special repository that anyone can point
Apt/Synaptic at. While I'm a SUSE fan, personally, I think it's important
to offer a simple, easy-to-understand solution set that churches and
support providers (commercial or volunteer) will be willing to use &
support. We are calling this the Libre Software Solution Stack (LS3).
You can get more details on what we're up to from:
www.thefreelyproject.us/wiki

We're choosing Ubuntu because of its popularity and support options. I
(personally) believe Ichthux should be our primary OS distro, but Ubuntu
will have to fill the position until this gets developed further. Also, I
have to work with other people. I see an advantage to going with Kubuntu,
but can also agree that perhaps a separate CDD might be needed.

I would love to get opinions from you guys about the proposed LS3, and how
you see Ichthux in relation to it. Also, if you know someone who wants to
copy what I'm doing here in the US, let me know. It would be great to see
chapters of The Freely Project launched in other countries as well!

Blessings,
Don
