I updated from the CVS, then did the following:
1. make distclean
2. make -f makefile.cvs
3. ./configure --prefix=/usr
4. make

I got the exact same error that I sent to you in my last email, so I
won't bother sending it again.  I will gladly try again whenever you say
so :)
