Yes this is true off all those but do too the lack of apps and instability for
now mandrake choose not to ship it. So on mandrake the only whay to get it is
to have kde2 and kde3 installed st teh same time. kde2 installes in the
normal place but kde3 installs into /opt/kde3. There are a few issiues with
this and there are still some bugs in kde3.

Redhat probably doesn't care because they push gnome anyway. As for suse they
had to do some major patching of the code to get it to work nice and it still
isn't what it should be.

The end result is that for now kde3 on mandrake is working but not as good as
it could be and is slower than it should be because of the hacks needed to
get it to work with kde2 on the box also. Anything compiled for kde3 on
mandrake will be a one off thing because of the nonstandard locations. For
right now I'm still using bibletime for kde2 on my system. I;n the near
future with the release of kde3.0.1 mandrake may replace the current packages
with ones that will replace kde2 instead of runn allong side of it. When and
if this happens whould be the best time to make packages for mandrake.
