This line made is seem like icons were installed to *the icon folder*
(i.e. $XDG_DATA_DIRS/icons/) but perhaps this line meant to some BT
specific icon folder????

I am not familiar with Fedora packaging 'lint' tools (I call them that
because of the debian lint tool I am familiar with)... but lint tools
can give erroneous errors, which is what it seemed like from what you
were saying, and perhaps you may have been unfamiliar with the relative
naming conventions, which it turns out was incorrect.

Sorry for the misunderstanding there.

Great!  It would be nice to follow the general standards set out by the
freedesktop specs
(I will use DESTDIR here instead of /usr/share || /usr/local/share)
$DESTDIR/icons/hicolor/48x48/apps is used for png and
$DESTDIR/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps is used for svg
$DESTDIR/pixmaps for xpm

Again, sorry I misunderstood your comment above.

Yes it is.  However is it good to put it into 2 main categories?

As the links I referenced state:
"By including one of the Main Categories in an application's desktop
entry file, the application will be ensured that it will show up in a
section of the application menu dedicated to this category. If multiple
Main Categories are included in a single desktop entry file, the entry
*may appear more than once in the menu.*"

Is that something desirable?
