It does use the link.  The problem is printing multiple verses.  If
verse 3 contains some text and verse 4 contains a link to verse 3, then
incrementing the verse number prints the combined verse twice.  But
incrementing the versekey will jump from verse 3 to verse 5, printing
the combined verse only once.
