I don't know if you've tried this, but I'd suggest (as root):<br>
  <ul>
    <li>uninstall gs and sword</li>
    <li>cd /</li>
    <li>find | grep -i sword</li>
  </ul>
if you find something other than /usr/share/sword, then that's likely
your culprit.  Note that the last command will take quite a while.<br>

I just followed your instructions on irc and installed cvs sword then
cvs gnomesword.<br>

You need to isolate the problem more precisely, e.g. use diatheke to
attempt to use modules there.  If diatheke sees them OK, then the
problem is with GS' installation.  If diatheke fails, the problem is
with how you built Sword.
