This may seem like "teaching grandmother to suck eggs", but I only came
across the formal term for this good practice today.

It's something I was doing a lot of the time when I was employed as a
semiconductor test engineer, without knowing there was a formal term for it.

No doubt, it's something most of you programmers are already doing.
