Yes.  If there's a better way, go for it.  This way works for me, and is 
easy to understand, so I did it (in my local copy only, at this point). 
   A SWORD source tree that won't build is no use to me, so I fixed it :)

Are you aware of any negative side-effects of checking this twice?
