Regarding the empty lists, I probably was not clear in my description. I was
referring to the parallel display. In the module divs there are two lists.
One list of the visible modules currently being displayed and that can be
removed. There is a second list of the modules that can be added. Suppose
there are no commentaries being displayed. The jsp outputs a beginning and
ending list tag without any items in it. It simply has <ul></ul> with
nothing but white space in between. If there are no items in the list, it is
invalid to have these tags in the HTML.
