[sword-devel] expanding the Sword canon

Well, I don't often comment, as I am still learning how to program. So, my
ability to comment intelligently is severely restricted, so far as the how's
and why's are concerned.

I don't feel that we would be promoting Catholicism by including the
deutero-canon. On the contrary, it might give those people who come from a
Catholic background a little bit of assurance. If I came from a Catholic
background, I would want to have the old familiar books available. Then,
maybe, I would be more inclined to download the other bibles and maybe read
some of the various and sundry commentaries and such. Then, just maybe, I
might put my trust in the Lord of Lords (if I wasn't already a believer.
Quite a few Catholics are saved, you know).

Shoving someone aside because they are Catholic or Orthodox or even
Pentacostal/Charismatic (which I am!), would be demeaning to the very
sacrifice that our Lord and Saviour paid for all of us (even Catholics,
Mormons, Muslims, etc.). Making texts available for everyone to use is just
good sense.

Please, before we get into a flame war that has no end, we should reconsider
the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Who it is for and why it is necessary.
Then, maybe we could get on with the task of making the Word available to
all so that they might believe in Him

Just my two mites.

In Christ's Love,

Jim Gross
