A free program similar to WinZip but that permits to compress also tar, gzip, rar, etc, including executables, is Power Archiver. I use it every time. Only for Windows.

    Could someone advise me, how much larger is a self-extracting zip file
compared to a regular zip file? Is there a free program out there that can
produce self-extracting zip files for Windows? How about for Linux? Thanks.
