[sword-devel] Restructuring BibleTime

Hi all,

I hope you all had a wonderful christmas. I remember the little song
Vinesong (you may know the group) sang in our church: Oh, what a
miracle...Jesus Christ from Galilee.

It is wonderful to work with you guys on this mission field. I first
ever recognized that when I saw a screenshot with a chineese bible in
it. ...

The following might be a bit off topic but since BibleTime is based on
SWORD and you are experienced programmers and won't flame me and ...
I write to this list, too.

We plan to restructure BibleTime for it's next generation. The GUI is
not very modular and also limited in some ways. We also want to switch
to the KDE2 API whos libs are fairly stable now (they even compile :) )

We want to support multiple views of text (either the same or different
bibles), having parallel views enabled (like greek in one, english in
the other windows), both moving the same (persistent keys).

We also would like to support a plugin structure for other backends like
a directory structure (enabling BibleTime to access a directory in tree
widget to select maybe audio sermons or whatever.)

The thing is I don't really know how to do it and would ask for some
advice. Maybe you can point me to sites where I can learn about plugins,
dynamic libs etc. and maybe you can give advice on how you would
structure BT, what to especially watch out for, simply some help :)

In Jesus ...
