If you look at /opt/tomcat/logs/catalina.out, you'll find this is

Seems like user mvnForums doesn't have the rights to alter tables?

It is also necessary to alter/create triggers and execute procedures.

Can this be granted to mvnForums user?

I have no idea when people are using the forums most! I'd say they'll
be fine without service for an hour or so. Feel free to do the work
when's best for you.

documentation of how to update the forum.

The database has to get updated to bring it up-to-date for the new
forum version and some other merges, mostly properties -> xml files.

I've planed to do this on Monday when I'm back from a weekend trip.
<br>
That means the forum will be offline for maybe an hour if all goes
well.
<br>
Do you know when (what time) the least users are online?

I would like to do this.

For backups and that kind of things I would need admin rights for the
forum.
<br>
Not sure if a hot upgrade is possible but I also might need rights to
stop, restart the forum application context.

Manfred,

I've added these commands to suders for you:
<br>
<br>
mbergmann ALL=/etc/rc.d/init.d/tomcat, /usr/bin/killall java
<br>
<br>
and I've put you in the groups: tomcat, forums
<br>
<br>
Have a look in ~forums
<br>
<br>
Also have done a backup tonight, which includes all of our databases at
/opt/firebird/data
<br>
<br>
Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks for owning this. I
stress out being a bottleneck and am so excited when people like you
step up to take responsibility for these things. THANK YOU!!!
