From todd at snowfallsoftware.com Thu Jan 5 08:28:23 2006 From: todd at snowfallsoftware.com (Todd Tillinghast) Date: Thu Jan 5 08:22:44 2006 Subject: [osis-core] Add to Message-ID: <43BD3B17.9010200@snowfallsoftware.com> Proposal: Add <verse> to
. Reason: There can be canonical section titles. The GNT92 has canonical section titles in Ezra.10.23 and other cases that surround it. Although we have not see such a case, it is also possible to have a case in Psalms with the "Hebrew titles". Timing: In finalizing the user documentation, Patrick has identified a signifigant issue with the <cast> group of elements (not text is allowed in the elements) and is suggesting a "bug fix" release osisCore.2.1.1.xsd. Are there any objections to adding <verse> to
in the next few days and releasing osisCore.2.1.1.xsd? I have already discussed the issue with Patrick and he is on board with the proposed change. Todd From scribe at crosswire.org Thu Jan 5 11:17:02 2006 From: scribe at crosswire.org (Troy A. If so, can you subscribe patrick@durusau.net? As I understand the problem from Todd, what is needed is as follows: WARNING: NOT VALID OSIS MARKUP
<verse osisID="Ezra.10.23" sID="Ezra.10.23"/>Among the Levites</titles <list>
Jozabad,

Shimei,
... </list><verse eID="Ezra.10.23/> In other words, the USFM allows marking that portion of the verse (and not repeating it) as a title and placing the verse number before it, then continuing with the verse. Todd said there were about 10 examples in the source he had. Actually if you look at Ezra10:23 in the NIV Study Bible, it looks fairly close to what he described. Thanks for your example, however. I did not consider doing: <verse osisID="Ezra.10.23" sID="Ezra.10.23"/>
Among the Levites Jozabad, Shimei, ... > > A Psalm of David. > > > > The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. > > > > > Todd Tillinghast wrote: > >> Proposal: >> Add to . >> >> Reason: >> There can be canonical section titles.
