Actually it simply appears as part of the Hebrew text. What you are 
seeing in the translation is a formatting decision.

My best suggestion would be if it is marked at all, advise encoders to 
either use <w> or <seg>. <w type="x-selah"> seems to be the most 
obvious. Note that it is inconsistently formatted (as I noted for Psalm 
77) so not sure how this will be handled other than as one off in any 
event. (note that type on <w> always requires the "x-" prefix)
