Agenda for the Calvin College OSIS meeting, Aug 27-29th (Final prior
to the meeting) FW:
                                                                                                                            Agenda
for the Calvin College OSIS meeting, Aug 27-29th (Final prior to the
meeting)

  AGENDA ITEMS:

1) SCHEMA RECAST USING COMPLEX TYPES - Review and address any issues
related to the recasting of the OSIS 1.
schema using named complex types rather than named elements, as
proposed by the osisCore.1.6.xsd schema posted recently. This will
also include discussion of how to extend the schema.

2) STANDARD IDENTIFIERS - Defining standard sets of identifiers and
taxonomies related to Biblical texts and topics AND a standard OSIS
structure to electronically encode them. (The expectation is not to
define the fine grained values but at least identify categories that
can be filled in later.) (The expectation is to not redefine what is
already covered by existing standards but to explore the possibility
of adopting existing XML structures/schema and/or existing sets of
identifiers.)

3) REFERENCE SYSTEM REPRESENTATION - Structure for representing a
reference system and mapping between reference systems. Define the
problem, parameters that must be met.

4) OSIS ADOPTION STATEMENTS - Outline one or more levels of OSIS
adoption with related statements that organizations can OFFICIALLY
use to express their endorsement of the OSIS standard. Also outline
a strategy (how, who approaches, which organizations, and in what
order) to solicit official endorsement of the OSIS standard.

5) BEST PRACTICES - Best practices for encoding non-Bible OSIS texts.

(I am expecting that we would work off of an issues list broken up
into the following categories.) (We can work unaddressed issues
related to Bible encoding into the issues list.)

	A) General issues common to many non-Bible texts (also how to
encode content into a Bible).

	B) Commentaries

	C) Lectionaries/Daily Devotionals/Bible Studies

	D) Sermons

	E) Articles/Monographs
