Talking about splash screens for KDE, you can have a look at 
http://ichthiux.free.fr/wikini/wakka.php?wiki=IchthuxKDESplashScreen on the 
wiki. I have explained how to create a splash screen. There's also a
tar.gzarchive of the splash screen I created for the Live CD (v.
0.4.3).

About the artwork we already have, you can have a look at 
http://ichthiux.free.fr/wikini/wakka.php?wiki=IchthuxLogo aswell.
