I just implemented the font chooser for BPBible to allow per-module and per-language font choice.<br><br>How I did the preview reference selection for a module was to try setting the key to the current reference for the book type (BPBible currently has one of genbook, commentary, dictionary, and bible active at once). If that key is empty, try going forward to find text. Otherwise, go back to find text. <br>
<br>The benefits of this approach are that if the user has a book open to a certain spot, that is what will appear in the font choice. They probably want to change the fonts as they have seen something wrong in the text. Also, if there is any text in the module (and the module is well-formed) they will get to see it.<br>
<br>I don't think hardcoding text works very well - there are too many new ones being created. Also, there are an awful lot of languages to be catered for - this applies to ranges as well.<br><br>God Bless,<br>Ben<br>

</div>What if the first entry is introduction written in English though the<br>
module is for some ancient language? I don't know if there are any such<br>
modules but we should think about some possible situations because, as<br>
you said, there will be more and more modules.<br>

I guess the most bullet-proof solution would be to have characters from<br>
the unicode range determined by the module language AND some<br>
verses/entry from a module. At least one of them should give a close<br>
match. For Bibles I would take couple of verses from e.g. Gen1 and John1<br>
and if they all are empty, then something else.<br>

But Gary doesn't have to make any decisions about this. The font chooser<br>
won't be any worse than the current one even if the text is left as it<br>
is now. So, Gary, relax :) Just make sure that the text can be easily<br>
changed dynamically later if you don't want to implement something more<br>
complex.<br>
