What I meant - I have had the experience that blunt German ways of communicating do not always work well with native English speakers. "You are wrong!" is a conversation starter in German, it is not one in Britain, nor would I think in the US. It hurt when I learned that. It nearly cost me a beautiful friendship. Fortunately the lady I said that to was forgiving and willing to accept that I did not mean it as badly as it sounded to her. 

So, I am putting that out there too - I am happy to accept that a lot of stuff you say is not in your head as bad as it sounds in other people's ears, but you are now sharing a international mailing list in a language which is not your own, you must adapt your ways when you are told to. And if you think a large chunk of the aggro coming your way is unjustified, is the way you communicate (I do not think this is all, but still) then it is up to you to up your game there.
