Do you mean you hide both bookshelf/bookmarks and Mag window? Then the 
text window area should expand. But whether the individual text windows 
expand automatically depend on the arrangement mode. I have found 
auto-tile mode to be the best for me.

Is that the problem, or is there still something else?

What do people think, should one of the auto-tile modes be the default? 
How much do you use each mode?
