[bt-devel] couple of non-working commits

What are the steps to reproduce the crash? It's not crashing on me, although
I still have KDE 3.94. I could go ahead and update my Kubuntu, if this would
be the most helpful thing for me to work on right now. Otherwise I can try
to work on other bugs while it's not crashing.

I have noticed on my computer that I can't open any works from the bookshelf
tab. There is no error or crash; the windows simply do not open and nothing
happens. However, works from saved sessions load properly on application
startup.
