This has been fixed in BibleTime version 1.6.5. Please update.

Got the same problem with 1.6.4 in Ubuntu 7.10.

Steps to reproduce:
- Open BibleTime
- Display any number of texts
- Select "Use line breaks after every verse" from the tool-bar menu on any
of the displayed texts.
- BibleTime crashes.

On relaunch the configuration of displayed texts is preserved, and the
text of interest is displayed with line breaks. If I repeat this process
to have a second text displayed with line breaks, after the crash and
relaunch BibleTime comes up with no texts displayed.

I suppose this is the same as
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1778330&group_id=954&atid=100954.

If you can reproduce this after updating to 1.6.5 (which will be packaged
for distros later, we don't know when), please give a bit more information
about the specific conditions under which this happens and exactly how to
reproduce this.
