Summary: Hidden Find

Initial Comment:
In BT there are three search tools, shown in the Menu
and the toolbar:
- standard bible, (in the Search menu)
- open works, (in the Search menu),
- search in each window (on the window toolbar)
By chance, I found a forth one, a find tool, which can
be opened by Ctrl+F and which has the following
additional properties:
- different dialog box: Find text - Bible Time
- has additional featurs, whole word, case sensitive,
backwards
- is limited to the actual chapter of a bible (I
suppose similar with other works.
For this Find tool, there is
- no way to open it with the mouse (no icon, no menu item,
- the only mentioning of it is in Settings / Configure
BT / Hotkeys / Choose Type: All text windows.
- in the last version of the Handbook I have, there is
no description on the page: hdbk-op-search.html

-> Build in the find tool into the Menu and/or Toolbar
so that it can be activated by the mouse.

Both items fixed in cvs. Thank you. Will be in 1.6.1
whenever it becomes available, testing not needed.

In BT 1.6rc1, Handbook opens. Great.

In the Handbook, under 'Searching text in an open read
window' it says:
 You can look for a word or phrase in the open window like
you are used to from other programs. This function can be
reached either by clicking with the right mouse button and
selecting Find..., or by using the hotkey Alt+F. Read on to
learn how you can search in entire works.

-> For a 'non-techni' like me, the expression 'open read
window' is not clear, what this means. And even if thas has
been explained in the handbook before: I suggest to add as
an explanation like: (e.g. the actual chapter of a bible).

-> Alt+F opens the menu, change it to Ctrl+F

Wolfgang, you need to make the same changes when you
install bibletime-i18n ("Please see the warning regarding
nonstandard paths in the previous paragraph."). Your
translated handbook files are in the wrong location. Please
run "make uninstall" and then use the Debian-specific
install procedure with
kde_htmldir=/usr/share/doc/kde/HTML ./configure --prefix=/usr.
In the end, the files must all be under
/usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/.

I read the page:
http://www.bibletime.info/software_installation.html

The output of find /usr -name hdbk-config.docbook is:

/usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/bibletime/handbook/hdbk-config.docbook
/usr/share/doc/HTML/de/bibletime/handbook/hdbk-config.docbook
/usr/share/doc/HTML/fi/bibletime/handbook/hdbk-config.docbook

Hi Wolfgang, did you make sure to heed
the "debian-specific" section in the INSTALL document? It
says:
++++++++++++++++++++++++
Debian specifics
---------------------------
Debian (and possibly derived distros as well) use a
non-standard path to
store the documentation of KDE programs. Therefore
the ./configure line above in
this case needs to be changed to:

kde_htmldir=/usr/share/doc/kde/HTML ./configure --prefix=/usr
+++++++++++++++++++++++
If you did, then something went wrong. Please send the
output of:
find /usr -name hdbk-config.docbook
So that we can see where your problem might be. It looks
like the docs were installed in the wrong location.

Hi Martin
,

Tried to verify this, but in my BT 1.3 (which Joachim did a
week ago, if I click Menu / Help / Handbook, it says:

There is no documentation available for
/bibletime/handbook//index.html.

How can I get access to the handbook?

I think it does not need an own icon, but I'll mention it in the handbook.
