MacSword 2.2.4 wont open

1. I tried deleting all my caches and preference files related to MacSword , including the MacSword and Sword folders in my Application Support folder in home library.

that didn't work

2. I tried putting an empty folder "MacSword" in my
~/Library/Application \Support / Folder

that didn't work

I installed the application into

/Applications / MacSword/ MacSword.app

I also tried putting it directly into the Applications folder and still no go.

Re: MacSword 2.2.4 wont open

MacSword works fine on my MacBook Pro. The error is caused by a library inside of the application that is not compatible with the PowerPC architecture of your PowerBook. I confirmed this by launching MacSword under Rosetta, thus using the PPC compatible code rather than the Intel compatible code. I got the exact same crash. Perhaps some of the PowerPC code did not compile correctly.

EDIT: If I interpret the error message correctly, the cause of the crash is in the ObjCSword executable inside of the ObjCSword Framework.

Yeah, the PPC executable is missing. I actually thought it was built including PPC but it seems not.
Have to rebuild.

Re: MacSword 2.2.4 wont open

I see.

Yes, I am on PPC still. Haven't had the cash to get an intel mac yet.

I guess I will have to just wait for the update.
Just knowing what the problem is helps a lot. I was going crazy trying to figure it out myself : ) thanks.
Thank you guys. God bless your work.
I am astounded at the amount of effort you programmers put into a project that pays nothing.
Thank you.

Re: MacSword 2.2.4 wont open

This build crashes in Rosetta, but still runs fine in Intel native. I was unable to get a useful crash log. (seriously, the log displays no error message and ends with "NO CRASH LOG")

Considering that Rosetta may not be the absolutely perfect PPC compatibility test, there is possibly a faint chance it might work on a true PPC machine, but I doubt it will.

Re: MacSword 2.2.4 wont open

Hmm. I don't currently have a PPC machine for testing available. Not until next week. All binaries however contain PPC code.

Re: MacSword 2.2.4 wont open

When you do force quit, is there maybe a crash log generated?
Version 2.2.3 and 2.2.4 contain some heavy changes in the build system. You can try version 2.2.2 until I can sort this out next week.
