GnomeSword (as well as all of the SWORD project applications) has a built in concordance for every Bible. All you have to do is enable search for the module you want. Then search for any word and it will return all the places that word is found. You may have already known this and are thinking of something different. Actually that is not the same as a concordance, at least not the way the concordance works in e-Sword. The Concordance in e-Sword shows the Hebrew/Greek word along with how many different words it was translated into, how many times it was translated into each word, and a scripture reference for each place the word was found. The search function in MACSword only shows the translated word and each verse it occurs in. Pretty different, and not nearly as helpful. |

Can't you get much the same result as you describe by searching for Strong's numbers in the KJV? Or search for the English word first, to find the Strong's number, then search with the Strong's number? |

No, that doesn't sound the same. Searching for a Strong's Number allows you to see all occurrences of the word, but it doesn't tell you how the word is translated in English (unless you wish to read through every search result to find that it is translated 133 times as "a" and 212 times as "b"). Searching for a Strong's Number and an English word might tell you how many times that one original language word is translated as that one English word, but it doesn't give a feel for the range of ways the word is translated. I'm not aware of a good way to do that kind of grouping and analysis of search results with any current Sword software. |
