Hi all, I've just recently moved from Win to Linux, so sorry if the following is too inane... I'm trying to install Bible Time from RPM's downloaded from SourceForge.Net I have done the following; rpm -i sword-1.5.7-1.fc3.src.rpm rpm -i bibletime-i18n-1.4.1-1.fc3.src.rpm rpm -i bibletime-1.4.1-1.fc3.i386.rpm First two work fine, the last gives a dependencies error; error: Failed dependencies: libsword.so.4 is needed by bibletime-1.4.1-1.fc3.i386 sword >= 1.5.7 is needed by bibletime-1.4.1-1.fc3.i386 But I am assuming that RPM -i rpm -i sword-1.5.7-1.fc3.src.rpm should have placed the requisite libraries in their required locations? Have I missed something glaringly obvious? Regards, MH |

Hi, you installed the Source code packges of Sword and Bibletime-i18n. You need to install the packages in that order: sword-1.5.7-1.fc3.i386.rpm bibletime-1.4.1-1.fc3.i386.rpm bibletime-i18n-1.4.1-1.fc3.noarch.rpm I hope that helps, Joachim |

Hi Joachim, Thanks, but even installing in the order specified gives the same error message. I'm far from knowledgeable about such things, but it seems to me that the library files for sword are being installed to the wrong directory (or not at all). What I'd really like to do is to check that the RPM's are installing the files they are supposed to. At least if I could sight them in their proper locations it would be one less potential cause of problems. Is there any documentation that specifies the file heirarchy and install locations for sword? Regards, MH. |

Hi, have you noticed that the Sword package has a different name? It has a i386 in it which means it was compiled for an intel pc, the package you downloaded had a src instead, which means it contains the source code. Download the right package and I think it should work. Joachim |

Well spotted, Joachim. The program is up and running - although for some reason I'm not able to access the additional modules using ftp. It was easy enough to install .zip files manually, though - so at least I've now got Bible software for Linux and I can sort the minor problems out in the comming weeks.
