MacSword quit unexpectedly (2.2)
I am a new mac user, and I downloaded macsword 2.2.

But every time I try to open it I get the message "MacSword quit unexpectedly"

I tried looking through the forum, but other than a few post that go over my head, Nothing I have tried helps.

Should I try to download an older version and see if it runs?

I am running snow leopard 10.6.3, on a 13' macbook pro (the newest one)

I do not have that much experience with mac yet but I am learning.

Thanks again for any advice.

Re: MacSword quit unexpectedly (2.2)
Go to Console in Applications -> Utilities. That is where all the crash logs are found. In the sidebar on the left, click through those disclosure triangles until you find MacSword. click the latest log, and copy the text into a forum post or a Private Message to mdbergmann.

If you need more help on this, I may be able to help if you use Skype. If you would like some help over a Screen Share chat, you may private message me with your Skype contact info so I can get in touch.

Re: MacSword quit unexpectedly (2.2)
1. Open Terminal in Applications > Utilities > Terminal

2. Type the following (exactly), or copy/paste:

sudo rm ~/Library/Application\ Support/Sword

3. Enter your account password at the prompt (you won't see any characters appear, but this is normal in Terminal).

4. Try MacSword again.

(Explanation: The error appears to be corrupt index files. The Terminal command is a fast way to remove the folder where those indexes would be. To see the same files in Finder, look in your Home Folder, and navigate to Library > Application Support. You should able to find a folder named "Sword" and another named "MacSword". The index files stored in the Sword folder can become corrupt under certain circumstances (such as having used MacSword 1 in the past and not re-creating the index files when upgrading to 2).

Re: MacSword quit unexpectedly (2.2)
Is this the complete crash log?
I can't actually see the cause. :|

I only quoted the parts mentioning mac sword, and one of the more recent "crashes"
I am a total noob at mac os, So I am still learning, but I can try to post some more I just didn't know where to start and end

See the thing is I have only installed the newest version, but I don't even think it ever installed properly. I may try deleting it, I just need to look it up on how to uninstall, Should I download one of those programs that deletes remaining junk files ?

Re: MacSword quit unexpectedly (2.2)
The forum doesn't accept such large posts as the full crash log would be.
So better mail it to me.

I don't actually know how the application can be installed improperly because the only thing you do is copy it so somewhere.

I tried it no luck, I am about to try downloading the zip file to see if that works a friend installed it on his new macbook, and it works but you could only open it from where it was downloaded to.

Re: MacSword quit unexpectedly (2.2)
I don't think it ever installed, , or when I first installed it it was corrupted or something, but every time I install it , or try and open it I just get the quit unexpectedly message
.

Re: MacSword quit unexpectedly (2.2)
In version 2.2.2 was a bug introduced that caused a crash when reopening a session that included dictionaries or genbooks.
Fix is available (v2.2.3).
However for that to happen you probably tried MacSword before?
