Of the KJV, its derivatives, and crown copyright...
Hello. I have never seen this issue discussed on the internet, so I want to know your opinion.
In the UK, the KJV is still under copyright of the British Crown until 2039. There are many derivatives of the KJV which modernize spelling that are in the public domain, like the American King James Version (AKJV). However, it has always seemed to me to be a gray issue to use those versions in the UK. I think the exception is the Webster Revision of the King James is the exception, but i'm not sure. Can anybody shed light on this obscure issue?
